The future network traffic, as predicted by major enterprises and experts, will be multiple times the current traffic. Although, in some cases, adding hardware to increase the bandwidth is required, the key to the problem is to reduce the waste of network utilization. The software-defined approach is an appropriate method, as the main purpose is to construct a flexible service in order to reduce hardware limitations, and thus, is also called a “virtual network”. According to the aim of virtualization, the SDN will be a best solution for reducing the unnecessary traffic. In this talk, I will introduce the overview of SDN, and share the trends, opportunities and challenges of SDN that I observed
